This course is designed to increase awareness of different types of illicit discharges in the public storm sewer system and provide municipal field staff with the tools to detect them.
This course describes the MS4 permit requirements for illicit discharge detection and elimination, and identifies common areas in cities and counties where non-stormwater discharges may be introduced into the stormwater system.
- Identify the difference between a spill and an illicit discharge, and different types of illicit discharges
- Elevate awareness of private, commercial and industrial activity that may impact the stormwater system within a jurisdiction
- Provide tools to identify, report and investigate the sources of illicit discharges within a municipal system
- Steps to prevent illicit discharge
Prerequisites: 101 or equivalent understanding
Length: 2.5 hours – all in classroom*
*Can be combined with 205 – Spill Control and Response for an additional cost.
