The GSI for All project is a community-driven initiative focused on expanding Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) access to immigrant and refugee communities in South Seattle. The goal is to co-create sustainable water solutions through community engagement, education, and implementation. In 2024, our primary focus is planning, developing necessary program documents, identify key priority and community needs, and preparing for community engagement in 2025. A key highlight this year is hosting listening sessions, workshops and tours or field work to ensure community voices are central to the project’s future direction.

While direct community engagement begins in 2025, 2024 was instrumental in designing a structured, inclusive approach that ensures long-term success. We have built strong collaborations with community partners and are aligning GSI solutions with the unique needs of immigrant and refugee communities.

The team has refined its knowledge of GSI implementation, developed outreach strategies, and structured a community-first engagement model for 2025. In December of 2024, ECOSS hosted the “Shaping Green Solutions Together” listening session, bringing together 24 participants from Muslim African and Spanish-speaking communities to share and learn about their perspectives on Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI) solutions for their neighborhoods. This impactful gathering was made possible through our collaboration with Hope Academy, whose partnership and support helped create a welcoming and inclusive space for community voices to shape future environmental initiatives.

This program is supported by Boeing and the Hope Academy.
