Vicky Raya has over 17 years of experience working with diverse communities locally and nationally. She brings expertise in developing community-led educational programs, designing inclusive and meaningful engagement strategies, and working within government agencies to advance racial equity across policy, planning, capital investment programs, and within the workplace culture. Currently, she leads climate equity initiatives in partnership with frontline communities at King County. Her background includes leading high-impact engagement programs and facilitating complex project collaboration with climate justice leaders, community-based organizations, and public and private organizations.
Vicky joined the ECOSS Board in February 2023. As a former ECOSS alum (2012-2015), she feels deep alignment with its mission: equitable, multicultural, and culturally relevant engagement and education on environmental issues. Now working on climate solutions in local government, she once again finds that ECOSS reflects the urgent needs of our moment in time and is excited to be part of this.
Fun fact about Vicky: “I worked for Pacific Science Center in the early 2000s. I regularly did fire throws with my bare hands, and let vaporized liquid nitrogen shoot out of my nostrils. In Spanish and in English, all for the love of demonstrating combustion principles and explaining states of matter for kids and families.”
